Mark Kmen

Mark Kmen is a licensed certified social worker who brings over 30 years of clinical experience to the practice.  He has worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings.  Mark utilizes evidenced based Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) treatments including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, and other problems in living.

Mark received his B.A. in Psychology from S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh in 1981 and Masters of Social Work Degree from S.U.N.Y. Albany in 1986.  Mark provides services at Health Psych Maine in a part-time capacity.  He formerly worked full-time at the Togus VA Medical Center as the Coordinator of Spinal Cord Injury, ALS, and Polytrauma clinics.  Prior to this role, he served as the facility Local Recovery Coordinator which focused on transforming the Togus VA Mental Health treatment system  to a philosophy of Recovery.

Mark is originally from Saratoga Springs, New York and has lived in Maine for 20 years together with his wife and two children.  In addition to helping others, Mark has worked in a variety of landscaping positions in New York and Maine, including owning and operating his own business, Kmendable Landscaping.  Mark is also passionate about music and is a trumpet player for the Kennebec Performing Arts.
